Got pulled over Sat night for Mod Exhaust

600 sqft aparments that are renting for 3k a month. Freeways that are congested even on the weekends, and the dollar does not go further in California. I'd make what is considered great money in most of the country, but here its just meh.

Not so different from Boston then....except shit weather here 1/3 of the year (and the hot days often come without the presumption that A/C is a civilized requirement). Coastal areas with cultural draws are expensive. Weekend get aways are one way to recharge.

I have several good friends, mainly from when I was in the military, who were originally from Southern California. None of them currently live there. The running joke is that when the Zombies come, then they can go back. I still remember it being the late 90's and the company I was working for, I regularly dealt with a women on the phone for work. She lived in California. I remember her being so excited that her and her husband and finally bought their first house. I remember her saying "It's a fixer upper, but we're excited." It was like 1000 sq/ft and she gushed about the great deal they got. It was several hundred thousand dollars. This was 97 or so? Because my ex and I had bought our first house. 1200 sq/ft, 1 acre lot, 6 years old - $69K.

TBH if you're not in tech or other CA specific business, there's not a point in living here. People seem to like the liberal atmosphere here but I'm honestly over it..
