Hello all

I have been waiting on a 2015 Mustang Premium in Oxford White with PP/401a. Had a hell of a time finding the right model with the trim. Long story short I put a $1000 down on the car and was told it would be here at the end of the month. Well..here we are and the stealership is telling me its still on rail and wont be here until after the 12th.

Heres the problem. I went down to another dealership and they have a 2016 base GT in shadow black that they are willing to sell me for $32,382 OTD including full Xzilon paint seal and the 100k free service package.

Is this a good deal? I really like the car and after some soul searching I think I can live without the Premium options. The only thing I will really miss is the Pony lights I think. :headbonk:

This is about a $8000 savings over the other car and I cant help but think about a SC, new wheels and tires ,suspension mods, ect...

If you can live without the premium features and won't regret it after the fact, go for it. Like you said, extra $$$ for "go faster" mods.

I care about infotainment
If you can afford the car you want without it creating a serious financial risk or hardship for yourself then get what you want. I think the worse feeling is to get into your car weeks/months/years after buying it and thinking to yourself "man I wish I had got option-XYZ."

Ultimately that's why, despite coming close, I personally decided against buying a 2015 b/c I knew I would regret not having SYNC3 everyday I drove the thing and it would gnaw at me for years. If you had to try and talk yourself out of premium because of this '16 non-premium you see on a lot I'd say that's a sign you should stick with your order.

But everyone is different and maybe the premium features really don't matter to you at all. Just be honest with yourself either way so you don't regret your decision down the line. Good luck with your decision, and either way you're going to get a 'Stang so can't really go too wrong.

I think the difference in price from a base gt to prem with no options is like 50 a month or so. that 50 call get you all those creature comforts you may want, if you actually car about all those things like leather, screen and all.

I am still torn between the trim levels myself. but for me, about 75% of premium trim features I could car less about but they would be nice to have. it is a BIG savings to go base though.

I may go base bc I know at some point, an aftermarket company will offer a head unit to replace base radio, like maybe raxium.

Its not really the payment at all, I am going to pay cash for either one. When I first started looking a month or so ago it was all about the "creature comforts" as you so aptly put it. :) As I have further progressed into my obsession I have realized that I really want the vehicle for the performance. All else has become secondary. I have had dreams of pulling hard digs and carving winding back roads...I have it bad.

What do you mean exactly? I thought the fit and finish on this '16 was far superior to the '15. The hood is aligned great IMO.

Appreciate the feed back all.

so I just replied with a novel of information, I hit post reply and my internet failed on my work PC. fuk....

let me start over. I have a 2012 boss at one point and I loved the cut down feel, no distractions. I missed not having Bluetooth sync though, but we all know they fixed that for 2013. the new base gt comes with way much more than that boss. track apps, sync, launch control, nicer look and feel, etc.. I never missed not having a screen in the boss and a 2015 GT PP is an upgrade to the boss for me. that's how I justify the base. I could care less about things like heated and cooled seats and pony lights under the outside mirrors.

but for about 2-3k more, you get a ton more stuff. now I only care about 20-25% of what the premium trim offers. drive modes and rear bumper. I don't care about snyc 3 that much bc this is not a car I would travel in. we would use the family sedan for that. so id rather have a fancy family car and a base gt PP for me.

I will probably replace the rear bumper on the base with premium at some point, but I cant justify an extra 50 bucks a month for a bunch of stuff I don't care about. lol, I say this but time will tell when I have some more seat time in them. im sitting in Afghanistan with a month left planning my build.

if you wanted pure performance and are paying cash. you could get a base GT with PP and maybe recaros, save a bunch of money and supercharge it.

if I get a base, my mods eventually would be premium rear bumper, jms throttle device. bc flipping a switch every single time I start the car for throttle respond would annoy me. JMS device would fix this. and that would be about it.

I thing the biggest reason to go premium is for sync 3 (if you will use it) and leather

now is that 100k service package the extended warranty? bc that's like a free 2k add on.

Pulled the trigger. :ford:

Let the mods begin. Sorry for the crap photos...finished this up right at 9pm. Out the door at $31,332! They knocked off another 1k when They thought I was going to walk.

She goes in for the paint seal tomorrow. Should be ready the 2nd. Mileage reads 10.6 and I put 6 on it on the test drive. :D Got to pull all the plastic and stickers and the bumper is not drilled. First mod is a CCM bracket!

I could not be more stoked.

Its this http://esp.ford.com/premiumcare

I didnt opt for anything other than the standard bumper to bumper and power train warranty.

Congrats on the new GT!

What's wrong with the hood? I don't see anything...looks like it's aligned just fine.
