I swapped out my entire exhaust setup this past weekend. I removed the BBK 1 3/4" long tubes with Gibson exhaust(no cats), and installed Stainless Power 1 7/8" long tubes w/ cats and Solo Performance Mach Thunder exhaust. I've posted the links to both videos below.
BBK/Gibson/no cats review- When I installed them, I had ZERO problems with fitment and plenty of room to clear the frame being that they were 1 3/4". I drove on this setup for about 12k miles. It was VERY loud. Almost obnoxiously loud inside and outside of the car. A Lot of Drone. A LOT. I enjoyed the sound, however, I decided this time around I was going to tone it down a bit. I was starting to get annoyed by the droning. I got tons of compliments on how it sounded. Power wise, I felt that this setup, the 1 3/4" headers provided much better grunt down low, and high rpm horsepower was definitely felt after I installed them and got the Lund tune.
SP w/cats /Solo Mach Thunder review- Install the second time around was much faster. Took me 6 hours to do the install in my driveway, by myself, on jack stands. First time around it took me almost 11 hours. The headers are a much tighter fit with the bigger primaries, but I have no clearance issues at all. The Solo Performance exhaust fit very well too, and the adjustable tips make it a breeze to line up the tips perfectly. This setup is much deeper sounding. Inside the car under normal driving it is very quiet in my opinion. When you crack the throttle wide open, especially once you get over 5k rpm, the exhaust SCREAMS. As for a power difference, I can honestly say I feel a noticeable loss of torque at the bottom of the RPM band. Very minimal, but I know my car well enough to feel it. Above 5k RPM, it pulls harder. It surprised me honestly because I wasn't used to the car pulling like that. I'm not talking tons of hp feel difference, but noticeable for sure.
As of right now, the SP/Solo setup is a switch I'm very happy about. In hindsight, it was fun to try two different setups to see and feel the difference. But this is the LAST header and exhaust swap I'm making on this car haha. I made the swap to larger headers since I'm getting ready to do a blower this spring.
