Anyone else getting ridiculous premiums on insurance from geico? I got a quote on the new mustang from others, and they were all in the 200-220ish range(I live in NY insurance is ridiculous in general.) I have geico right now, I checked to see what it would cost to add the mustang to it, and I was quoted 548 dollars a month. That can't be serious? I haven't had a claim in almost 6 years, and I have had my license for 10 years. I also have a ridiculously good credit score. Anyone else getting a ridiculous price on their new mustangs?

Seriously? My rate is about $500 per 6 months...

I have 2 vehicles, insurance is $115 a month. You're getting lit up with that one.

My deductible and all that is set for the same across all of the people I got quotes from. I think it's at 500 for most stuff? I'll have to double check on geico, because I have been using them for years. But it's ridiculous. I understand I am going to pay a lot because it's NY, and I am turning 28 in a few months, so still fairly young. But it's ridiculous. One "at fault" accident with like 600 dollars worth of damage 6 years ago should not weigh this much on my premiums I feel.

Switched to Geico when I got this car. Was paying 110 a month for State Farm. Down to 65 for Geico. In Indiana though so everythings cheaper.

It would appear I need to move. Insurance here is ridiculous in general. Health insurance for me as a healthy 27 year old would cost me over 400 dollars a month lol.

If you or one of your parents has served in th U.S. Military, seriously look into USAA auto insurance. I switched to that from State Farm. My insurance premium basically got cut in half. I won't do business with State Farm again.

My mother was in the navy for a few years like 30 years ago, would that count? :p

Yep. Ask her to get a USAA membership. She can then get you a USAA membership number. You can then apply for their auto insurance. Everyone I know who has it loves it. They've been great to me.

This sounds great. Are you sure it applies to children of my age of people who have served?

I just switched from State Farm to a new company called Metromile, if you drive less than 1000 miles a month it's a pretty good deal...I was paying $120 a month with State Farm, now I pay $43.00 a month, plus 5.6 cents per mile...based on what I drive it's saving me around $40 a month....of course I just paid $250 to get a new windshield...but that was my deductible so....and btw, my quote with USAA has always been higher than what I was paying with State Farm....

How are they on actual claims? I have never made a claim for stuff that's happened to a car before, outside the one accident I had. But I feel like I might be more willing to make a claim on a brand new car, than older beat up ones like I am used to.
EDIT

Just looked into it, they don't sell insurance in NY sadly.

Yep, far as I know. I'm no kid anymore and I switched a couple years back because my Dad finally got around to getting a USAA membership and then he suggested I look into their insurance because their rates are generally fantastic.
