Gas pump not locking?

Hey guys, any of you having a hard time getting the gas pump to lock? About half of the time when I try to use the locking mechanism on the gas pump-- the gun just pops out. I've tried getting it to lock at all sort of angles, push the gun all the way in..and nothing. So I usually have to stand there holding the gun and pulling the trigger on the gas pump. Any clues?

My car does this sometimes, about once every 3-4 fill-ups. Usually it happens when I fill up with a half tank or more still remaining (I never let my car go to less than a 1/4th of a tank). Not sure what causes it though.

At first I thought you didn't know what you were talking about. Then I tried pumping gas without pressing the trigger all the way in and.......

Try a new gas station. Some places have worn our old gas pumps that click off when you look at them the wrong way.
