Hi guys, I currently have a Borla Sport Racing by Ford Performance axle back installed on my car. Would adding a Flowmaster y-pipe cause it to drone at highway speeds? I really want a deeper sounding tone but not obnoxious. Is this a good combo? Does anyone have experience with this or similar setup?

Thanks!

I'm running a close setup (Borla Type S Axle Backs + Ebay Y-pipe) and get no drone. Car sounds very European; I guess the best way I can describe it is it sounds the way it should have from factory.

I have AWE mufflers, I chopped out the resonator, I have zero drone, and I have 3.31 gearing, which means I sit low as possible in rpms, if I had drone, id notice it.

I am doubting much drone should happen, any decent muffler should remove it.

You'll definitely know the exhaust is there, but it's not unbearable by any means. I have one of the loudest exhaust setups you can do for this car Tomei exhaust with a 3inch catless downpipe and I daily drive 50 miles each direction to and from work and I can bear the noise. I think you'll be fine.

Cool! Would you happen to have an audio clip to share? Thanks!

I had that exact setup. You'll get drone around 2300rpm

Does it go away while you're cruising? I don't mind if it's just in the lower rpms

It's around +/-100rpm of that 2300. As long as your not in that range then there's almost no drone. I'd always cruse around 2000 or 2500 to avoid the drone zone

I got it installed and I love it. You're right about the little drone zone but it doesn't really bother me it all. It's probably minimal but do you happen to know the HP/torque gains from this Y-pipe + Borla axle-back combo?

Couldn't tell you. My car had a roush tune right from the dealer so it's not really comparable to stock tune. The Butt dyno says around 10lbs base but there's no actual numbers to back it up
