The handbrake is not what bothers me, it's the stupid cup holders being exactly where you would rest your arm. Why not design the cup holders to be further back in the centre console and side to side or either side of the console in front of the gear stick. At least then they would be usable and your arm won't be falling in them.

I will be looking for some sort of cover/insert that makes them flush so I can comfortably rest my arm.

I think I'm going to invent some little cup sized objects with padded tops.

If you think this handbrake position is odd, the old Porsche 924 had it between the drivers seat and the door threshold. I once had to lean over from the passenger seat of one to release it when the lady who was driving had pulled it up so far she couldn't release the ratchet. Slightly embarrassing at the traffic lights on a busy Saturday afternoon.
