I did the stripes with spray paint, and I did the lettering using the syringe method with a blunt needle. It is a very painstaking method that requires a steady hand, and you need a cloth dampened with airbush thinner to quickly clean overflows or mistakes. Moving the syringe from one letter to another is a great opportunity for a drop to get on the main color, making a big mess.

Before I used the syringe method, I tried masking the covers with only the areas between the letters un-masked and then spraying them, while having a thinner-soaked rag handy to remove the excess. I couldn't get that to work very well, as there were always some smudges that refused to come off.

Here's a shot of the passenger side. I intentionally used a darker shade of red in the hopes it would make the white lettering pop more. Now I need to figure out the color scheme for the top cover.
