So I picked up my car today and had it for 30 minutes, as I was driving to the detailers. It is an awesome beast and I had a grin on my face all the way there......a couple of hours later and that was wiped off :headbonk:
I specified a minimal clean at the dealers and with the recent bad weather the car was speckled with water marks when I left the dealer.
The detailer has polished all of the paintwork and it looks great and all the watermarks were removed. The stripes however are a different storey, they have etched watermarks from what looks like long standing or frost maybe in Baltimore. When looking at the reflections the stripes look bad now, especially compared to the rest of the car. There are lots of dots or pool marks where water has been and they won't buff off.
I am taking the car back Saturday for photos and Ford approval to replace the stripes. They should have protected them better or just put the pack in the boot for the dealer to fit, as that is what is going to happen now anyway.
I was thinking of removing them and asking for my £500 back, but I like them so I am going to go ahead and push for a replacement.
Anyone else have factory stripes and have you looked at them under a light? I am thinking they will look terrible at night under any artificial lighting.
Once they are replaced, my detailer will seal them so that they won't suffer the same fait in the UK weather.
