I'm trying to figure out whether I have early onset tinnitus or not. I get a ringing in my ear for a few seconds every so often.

Mine came on all at once walking down a hallway.

What's crazy is how incredibly loud my tires can be driving on porous pavement. The roar isn't coming in your ears, it's a vibration your skull is picked up. And you can't put ear plugs in or wear ear defenders to silence it. In my case, it can be so loud that it totally blocks out the radio and anything your passenger is saying. You just keep wondering when the road will end.

Saw a guy at the car show on Sunday with a very nice Mustang that he'd turned into a dragster. Cam just loping along, idling down the parking lot. And he had his little kid in a car seat, with nothing over his ears. :(
