Exhaust tip diameter larger than it claimed?

Bought a pair of exhaust tips that labelled to have 2.25' inlet, however when I measured it, it appears to be 2.5'. Wondering if thats the case for anyone or they sent wrong products. Also, if I try to put these on a 2.25 outlet muffler, is it gonna be a lot of trouble or I can just weld it on the muffler?
