Are exhaust mods beneficial to mild-moderately modified engines? I'm thinking of doing the performance pack 3 upgrade when it comes out and was wondering if headers and/or catback is something worthwhile?

I wonder if the dynos I have seen are more gains from tunes or other components versus gains from the exhaust. One positive gain I can tell for sure is weight reduction by losing the resonator.

Did a search, found a ton of threads on exhaust sounds but not much on gains. Sorry if this is a repetitive post.

This topic has been covered many times. It boils down to Headers and catbacks will add HP but they do it by increasing the HP you get from a Tune and improved intake items. So if you do headers and catback first you won't notice much of a change and actually you might lose some HP until you tune the car to take advantage of the increased exhaust capacity. And you will probably throw codes until you get a tune.

As for your plan of getting the Perf pack 3, go ahead and do that first. It will give you some HP gain. But once done it isn't something Ford can update to take advantage of the headers and catback. So when you add the headers and cat you'll need a new custom tune. Then you should really see some new horses.

Exhaust mods are definitely beneficial if you go with longtubes or an offroad setup. Headers alone are worth about 25-30rwhp over the stock setup. You're not going to see any real gains with a resonator delete or catback. Those are mainly for sound and show very little to no performance gains.

Here's some data of our 2015 before and after with a set of the ARH headers.

Give us a call if you have any questions and we'll be glad to assist you.

Thanks, Jared

my car ran multiple 116s in the 1/4 on the stock tune with SP headers . headers make a very nice gain

Woot, thanks all. I'm new to the Coyote engine so it seems most of what I found was correct.
LETHAL: I was actually thinking of getting the PP3 from you all, have tons of questions in that department as well. Think we will be talking more :)

Appreciate the positive feedback all.

A set of our MAK Cat Deletes or Longtube Headers will be most beneficial in the power department. Resonator Delete's and Catbacks are more in the sound department.

Check out our Cat Delete Thread, there are plenty of individual test in that thread to guage the performance benefits.
