Presumably being good for those who are slaves to their phones does not make enabling all drivers to get away with paying less attention and not even letting them develop really good braking skills universally good things.

I've heard of a technology under development that would electronically bar the driver from using a phone while driving, while still allowing passengers to use theirs. I don't remember where I saw it (or who was involved), but this is the direction that separation of phone use from driving should be taking. Multi-tasking is a myth, and those who believe it to be possible are only fooling themselves.

Those poor Europeans are doomed.
Nahhh, not all of us bought EU castrated versions - mine was imported from Mexico

As for NCAP - they changed their rules like 6 times in the past 4 years and frankly nobody here gives a damn because the very same vehicles got 2-3 stars more 2 years ago.
NCAP was made to promote the German vehicles only which are made to German standards - just forget it.

And I have the only California Special in Europe I have been told :D
But these results have put a few people off in the UK and they have cancelled their orders, also it gives a nice excuse for the insurance companies to put up their prices. I do find it interesting that it was marked down as not having the option for BLIS and collision warnings. So I wonder if the export cars will have them on? But looking at video's of the 2018, it does not look like even for the US cars that BLIS has now become standard? which does surprise me.
I find it brilliant, and a lot better than its meant to be, will even warn me if a cyclist is in my blind spot on the drivers side, and that with the cyclists in Europe is a BIG blessing :D

And I was starting to think I'm some kind of a freak with my import

There are plenty imported US spec S550's in Switzerland, available on hand waaay below EU retail price - I have all the extras which are not present in EU version: remote start, DRL, LED fogs, red taillights with sequence, 35W HID, strut tower brace, full power etc and I paid 10k below EU retail - of course brand spanking new. Not to mention that I still have 5 years warranty(3rd party). "Me" even wanting the EU spec version is already beyond my comprehension.

I intentionally resigned form BLIS - I could have bought myself a car with all the gadgets on board for just 2k more and there were 3 locally available at that time. I was testing it for 1 day and it was very very irritating - blinking like crazy all the time. The same goes for adaptive cruise. Instead of paying the silly money for the gadgets that I don't like and I don't enjoy I decided to invest that money in some cool mods(see below)

I love the toys, and for a DD the ACC and BLIS is brilliant
I shall be in Switzerland in September, doing a tour of Europe with the CS, going to do the 4 passes and visit Piz Gloria.

So I will see other LHD S550's :)

100% agree about not going RHD, I used to have a S197 for 4 years so was used to driving a Lefty in a RHD country. But many others who used to own LHD went for the RHD for the 3 year Ford warranty, when i got the same 3 years from my importer. for my Canadian Spec CS, worked out the same as a standard Auto GT, and I got 6k of extras and like you have a Duel light system so have full UK amber or at a press of a button full US sequential and my car tax is way cheaper than the UK Stang

I'm glad those gadgets works for you mate - I just couldn't get used to that bloody blinking. Maybe I need to grow up

Who did that taillight conversion for you. The guy from PL?

My importer, think he saw it as a challenge, I nagged and nagged him, but on the receipt it says for "show use" only. To cover himself, just incase I get the Cops looking at me
He done a brilliant job
Full Red Sequential rears, the full US system, when i brake, start the car up, the 3 reds light up. also unlike other systems, this has a switch by the light switch, so I can turn them off and on as I am driving.
I don't think he will be doing anymore was a massive job, am extra 17 relays.
He had to do the conversion just to UK amber to pass the IVA to be able to drive the car on the UK roads, than they put the US relays in.
Have seem some people have the amber sequentials, but I never liked them, as for me it has to be the Reds, its the Mustang Mark

As for the blinking, they only blink when you are indicating to change lane and there is someone in your blind spot, they just light up as a car, bike, passes you
