^^^ Thanks guys  ... I'm just looking for some more volume from the rear speakers without fading to the back too much to hear them. If they are a drop-in without doing mods, then it makes it easy.

The backs are easy. Just fold down the seats, pull out 2 push pins, pull out each side panel a bit, and pull out the parcel tray. You can re-use the factory mount if you cut out the speaker. Do yourself an enormous favor though, use a small 1/4" drive ratchet wrench - that bolt in the back is pretty much right against the glass. A 1/4" drive socket wrench is the way to go.

Are you talking about the speakers on the Shaker system? I just have the base stereo that comed in the GT Primium and was assuming guys were putting JBL GTO 629s in the rear deck. I don't have speakers on the side panels by the rear seats.

Are the rear speakers in the deck above the trunk 6.5 inch diameter. Are these the JBLs that bolt up directly in the stock location?

No, they are in the rear deck. To get the rear deck out you need to pull the first couple clips of the side panels - they overlap onto the rear deck material. You'll see once you get started.

So sounds like you can't just change the rear deck speakers out by just accessing them from inside the trunk?

Also, you guys who put the JBLs in the rear deck ... is there a wiring harness adapter available that will make the wiring plug 'n play? I'm assuming there is some special Ford connector on the stock speakers and the aftermarket speakers will use something different.

You have to take the cover off the rear deck to change the speakers. I don't know of an adapter but I wouldn't worry about one. Just cut the plug off close and crimp or solder a short piece of wire to your harness. I used blade connectors that can be unplugged. Just make sure to get the polarity right.

Once you change the speakers you won't want to go back, so cut away...lol

Regarding audio fidelity, surprisingly enough on most of my older cars I had the fronts being the main stage and the rears were just barely used for fill, but for some reason even with new speakers I find having the rears pushing more sound than I normally do in a car really adds to the sound stage. And that rear deck really muffles the clarity on the speakers I find...

I got the shaker pro and am disappointed with it. I'll try the speed sensitivity and see if that helps. I was listening to some rock music with the windows up and was trying to turn up the volume and noticed it was all the way up. Changed the station and the bass almost blew me away. I'm set at max treble, 3 mid and 3 bass.
