Hi,

New to this forum. I've narrowed my choice of a future convertible to either the ecoboost mustang or the audi a3. While I wait for the opportunity to test drive both here's what I found:

Audi A3 2.0T slightly optioned including sport package is around $41k street Ecoboost Mustang slightly optioned with perf pack is around $37k street

Audi features important to me:

  • all wheel drive
  • sport package includes sport suspension
  • smaller curb weight
  • available stage 1 tune good for 305 hp / 371 ft-lbs (goapr)
Audi disadvantages important to me:

  • price difference
Mustang features important to me:

  • looks - it's a beautiful car
  • price difference
  • rear wheel drive (fun factor :))
  • manual transmission
  • available stage 1 tune good for 315 hp / 392 ft-lbs (cobb)
Mustang disadvantages important to me:

  • perf pack does not come with suspension upgrades
  • curb weight
So what are your thoughts?

I currently own an A5 coupe and will never own an Audi again. They are way overpriced and their technical quality is plain right horrible.

Besides an A3 looks like a roll of toilet paper compared to a Mustang. I will never understand why anyone who lives in the US where there are no emission taxes and gas costs next to nothing would ever consider choosing an ugly expensive 4 banger over a 2015 Mustang GT. Or over a Corvette (if you can afford that).
