And you didn't test the line lock in the dealership parking lot? In all seriousness, thanks for the review. I'm waiting for a dealer close to me to get one so I can get a driving impression myself. So you think the stock exhaust is different than the MY 15-17?

Oh, if you only knew. It's a giant improvement in feel and engagement consistency. Also, it's not heavy stock. It was engineered purposely to be light for the Euro and Asia markets.
Everyone is different. It is not like my 04 Cobra for sure. People should learn to drive first before finding a forum member saying the spring is the best thing ever. Keep reading, just as many say no change with the spring. Maybe I'm just old and know how to drive?

Just out of curiosity what was the sticker price on it ? Did the dealer try to make a deal at all ?

Some dealers in my area already have 2000 off not counting the 500 Fords offering.

I never noticed anything weird with the stock clutch/pedal/engagement. I kinda like it - feels heavy.
My first test drive almost changed my mind on purchasing a Mustang. The clutch was terrible, exactly how described by many on this forum. Lucky for me, I could not reach a price point that was acceptable on the car, and I passed. I then found another Mustang at a different dealer, with the same options. I test drove it, and was amazed at how nice the clutch was. Ended up buying it.

Thing is, the funky clutch is a real thing, and it is bad, really bad. But not all Mustangs have it. I love my clutch feel and would not change a thing about it, but I feel for those who have a clutch like my first tester had.

The stock exhaust is definitely different. I noticed it right away. Much more throaty. I had to do a double take.

Sticker was 46 and change. I am confident they would have dealt and she did ask me some buying questions but admittedly it wasn't what I wanted and she wasn't my regular salesman. I just wanted to see an 18 in person. She did say if I ordered one they could definitely make a deal since what they had wasn't what I wanted. I have bought two cars at this dealership and they always give me a fair deal.

I'd been driving manual cars for years before driving my GT. I drove it with the stock spring for about 2 months. It was far harder than necessary to make smooth 1-2 shifts. Immediately upon removing the spring, I had seamless 1-2 shifts. If you look at the way the pedal and assist mechanism is designed, you can see that the spring goes from being compressed to releasing right at the point where the clutch bites. This gives an odd sensation, very little feel of the bite point, and a pedal that wants to move when you don't want it to. It's very non linear. Every time I've gotten in a friend's S550 with the stock spring I'm reminded of how the first third of the pedal is firm, and then just falls away from you as you go past the inflection point. Try it. Of the hundreds who've reported trying it on this forum, I can only recall one who didn't like it much better.

I've owned dozens of manual cars including an 03 Cobra and a bunch of F-bodies legendary for leeching water into the rubber clutch line and causing the pedal to stick to the floor. I've never felt a clutch this inconsistent, it feels like the engagement point changes between every shift. It even threw my dad off who has been driving manual as a truck driver since the early 60's, every time he drives it he complains about the clutch being weird.

That said, I agree with you on the spring. Instead of heavier and inaccurate, it makes it light and inaccurate and I resolved just to deal with it. Even the stock spring isn't really "heavy" compared to a cable clutch though. I'm glad Ford seemed to address it this time around, I don't really remember my 2011 GT because I only had it for a few weeks but my 2010 with the 4.6 had a buttery smooth clutch and that nice slick shifting TR3560. Was making me heavily lean towards the A10 when I eventually trade this one in.

Maybe I got lucky with my 15 GT PP? If and when I trade this, I will go to the 10 speed auto for various reasons.
