Any recommendations as to which driving schools would offer a good beginner program?

I've never tracked before and I'm looking to see what its like and receive professional instruction. I'd probably look to accomplish this near my birthday in September. I live in the deep south end of New Mexico, so proximity is a plus.

Also, what is the going preference of using your own car versus the school's?

I drove my own car because it cost ~6x more to use theirs. That might vary based on the organization. I could recommend a track near me but I'm way too far from you. Hopefully someone local to your area will post. In the meantime, here's a bump for your thread.
