If you are looking to upgrade to a bigger turbo later, I would recommend just going with an intercooler, tune, and exhaust. You will need a tune when you get a turbo kit anyways, so might as well enjoy your car with a tune now.

As you can see in my signature, you can get cooking with minimal modifications and proper tuning. That 11.83 is with intercooler, tune, E30, and tires only.

If I was in your situation and I am I, wouldn't touch anything turbo to cat. I'd get a jlt intake, MF comp catback, and a tune by torrie or adam(they seem to be best but I'd wait till warranty is over and in the meantime let other peoples cars get tested). Maybe an IC too since I live in CA and its really hot here

Yeah, back pressure loss. Had the same experience with my '13 V6 Mustang. On the other hand, my SRT-4's all sounded & ran great with aftermarket exhausts.

they ran best with a cutout.... not sure why someone here hasnt designed one for our cars yet. Sound stock when closed, nice and loud with cool flames when opened hahaha

Yea it's weird, and your right I think it's a big back pressure loss, I have my resonator delete and a y pipe gong to two thrush mufflers, sounds insane, but I notice a power loss and it's really disconcerting to say the least. I think at this point I'm going back to stock, when I get the money. Just sucks, feels like I wasted $1000 for nothing but sound :(

The back pressure thing is a myth.... So no more of that stuff here lol

These are turbo cars...backpressure is not a something you want at all. You have all the pressure you could want between the turbo and the exhaust valve. Besides which these are direct injection cars, they can add fuel into the air mixture later (timed after the exh. valve close) so there should not be any benefit from back pressure.

Backpressure is actually very beneficial for small turbo cars, depending on how the cam phasing is setup. On the Fiesta ST, the stock downpipe with catalytic converter makes more power than any aftermarket downpipe. The reason being, backpressure.

I will respectfully disagree.... My old srt4 made more peak power and almost everywhere else on the chart with a cutout at the down pipe and that was with an even smaller turbo. Even before I sold my car I sold the needswing cutout went full 3" with bullit mufflers and I lost power everywhere and ran slower. Both set ups were tuned. Even N/A cars make more power open header than with a muffler if the car is tuned correctly. The guys over on Yellowbullet (the heavy hitters) have all basically done test and stated this back pressure thing is a myth.

Well I won't disagree because on the mustang it seems to be fact, because I'm going back to stock parts because of back pressure loss.

How is it fact? Ive stated on a similar size motor and turbo i picked up MPH in the 1/8 and 1/4 and also picked up power all over the powerband. If we're talking mustangs I've owned enough mustangs from turbo, blown, NA and nitrous to know bigger is better, ALWAYS.

It's fact for me because I have the parts on my car and I'm loosing power......I notice a huuuuuuuge difference from my stock down pipe and axle backs then from my stock. I'm not sure how much more fact I can get for myself. Can't say about your experience, but I own the car I drive it every day, I have used 3 different tuners, torrie, Bama, ect and they can't seem to correct the issue, so the only issue is those parts I installed. Went back to stock today and the car is running amazing, huge difference and that's a fact

a wise man once told me NEVER trust a buttdyno.... Also have you seen the inside of a stock muffler? There is no way in hell you pick up power going back to it unless your tuners cant tune which i know isnt true.

It wasn't a butt dyno, I quarter miles it and 0-60 it and 1/8 with mph, I'm not a retard, I have been working with 3 companies for months. I put everything stock and now my 0-60 are back to where they were and my 1/4. Period
