Hi,

I own an ecoboost 17' manual mustang. I noticed that when it snows/rains heavily, I sometimes get this burning smell inside of the car. I wonder if I may be burning my clutch by holding it too long during slippery weather. I try to be as unbiased as possible when driving and feel that I drive consistently in poor weather as I do in great weather. Could it be the water that causes the smell? Or, is it my driving - am I burning my clutch?

Thank you

I get a little of that smell, outside the car, enough that I've pulled in the garage, get out and notice it and start sniffing around. Never seen anything under the hood, the wheels/brakes are not "hot" to indicate a problem there, OE tires/wheels with no rubbing...it's intermittent though and there's no other problems with the car so I just keep an eye on it.

Just dirty water gets splashed around onto the exhaust.
My FJ splashes grease (by design) onto the exhaust so I get burning grease smell occasionally.

So if dirty water gets splashed onto/into the exhaust you would get smell inside the vehicle?

I never had a car do this except this one.
