Hello all, quick question regarding tire height. My 2020 GT is a PP1 car with the factory 19" wheels. I am lowered on Steeda Progressives and have a nice stance without being too low, however i definitely dont want it to sit any higher either. Im looking at swapping out the factory PP1 wheels with the 255/40/19---275/40/19 setup and moving to a 19x10.5 front wheel and 19x11 rear, with tire size moving to 295/35/19 squared setup. What i cant seem to for sure figure out is how will this change the stance of the drop, if at all. Factory 275 rear tires sit 27.7" tall with 295/35/19 sitting at 27.1" tall. Not much a difference i know, but does this translate to the car sitting slightly higher on the lowering springs, sitting slightly lower, or not changing at all due to some suspension geometry that i dont understand yet? Or am i nuking this whole thing and can get away with running the original 275/40/19 but now squared on all 4?
Pic of my car for reference. Thanks

Tire height has no effect on the springs or ride height. If you measure ride height from the center of the rim to the top of the wheel arch, that measurement will be the same no matter what size tire you install

The only thing that will change is the fender gap over the tire. In your case, the new tires will be roughly 1/2" shorter, or 1/4" shorter sidewall height, so the fender gap will increase 1/4" which may make the car appear to sit higher, but 1/4" won't really be that noticable.

I should have clarified that yes, fender gap is what im talking about not ride height.

There is a difference of .6 of tire sizes you listed with pp1 tires being the larger.

if you split the .6 in half that will result of fender gap increasing by .3 and the car will sit .3 inches lower. You have to take half the difference in tire height. Of course this essentially applies given both tires are same make and specs are true. Unless your fenders are near touching the tires you really won’t notice the 1/4-5/16 of an inch of change.

I just switched from 275/40r19 (diameter 27.7 inches) to 285/35r19 (diameter 26.9 inches). The fender gap increased by 0 4 inches (half the decline in diameter). I can tell the difference and prefer how the old tires looked. Probably because I'm on BMR minimum drop springs, which don't lower the car a whole lot. The 285/35s would look better with more drop.

A 305/35/19 is very close to the tire height of the 275/40/19 (about 0.3"smaller over all, giving you less than 0.15" drop)

The 295's up front are within 0.01" to the taller of the stock 255s

I'm in the middle of doing something very similar on my 21; just not sure if I am going with the 10.5" up front or the 9.5" at the moment. Either way I am going with the 11" rear with the 305 (already have the tires)
