$800 for what? Even if it's a 2-2.5 hour install; its all labor getting everything lined up. It's a sticker you peel that back off at the end of the day that anyone can do.

It shouldn't reasonably cost more than $200-250 to install; even 2 guys doing it for 2-2.5 hours straight

I still 100% believe anyone can do this themselves on a weekend with time. Use painters tape with the backing of the stripes still on and lightly tape where you want them to go. This will be the bulk of your time, aligning everything perfect.

Once it's tacked with small pieces of tape every few inches, remove the backing on the stripe a few inches at a time and smooth down. It looks like worknig from the middle out is the technique to make sure the ends aren't short (they probably wrap under the hood etc. It's not rocket science though, it's a sticker. Youtube is littered with how to for 2015 stripes as well for technique.

I completely agree re: the inflated installation prices. It's absurd to pay that much. Had I not found the guy who did my stripes, I was set to try the install myself.

Most dealers hire someone else to do the install and then mark up the price, you will get a better price checking with a body shop or collision shop. Most shops replace stripes during collision repair and have experience with vinyl. Having garage makes a big difference on the install, doing an install outside makes things twice as difficult. Any amount of wind, neighbor mowing, bugs, etc will mess up an install.
