Should I let the dealer wash my black gt? I'm a little nervous if the dealership will put swirls or scratches in my black gt when it comes in

That's what I figured I'll tell them not to wash it

If you are able to do it yourself, do it. If you have an extra $150-$200, find a professional detailer. If you don't fit these two, have the dealer do it. I hand wash my car weekly, use spray detailer in between washes, and have seen no negative side-effects of allowing the dealer to detail my car. With that said, two weeks after I got my car, I detailed the car myself starting with clay.

I let my dealership do it on my black. I dont know if (although there were other cars there so I don't think so) being family friends with the dealership helped but they hand washed it and polished it out. And its a black GT and they actually did a 95% decent job.

There were maybe 1 or 2 tiny patches of very fine scratches (the type you wouldn't see unless under the right light) which I buffed out in about 5 minutes myself. I dont think they put them in, but rather just missed them considering the overall condition of the paint when I took possession. The only reason I noticed it was at night with the strong fluorescent garage light overhead and it was right by the windshield on the hood/side fender. But I dont see any other spots

But overall I have to say that my dealership did a pretty decent job actually considering it's black and shows everything. I'm sure it varies by dealership and who at the dealership does it. Luck of the draw.

I wouldn't let the dealership touch my car. I picked it up dirty with rail dust and had it to my detailer in less than 6 hours.

He did such a great job (as always) that one of the salesmen that helped me with my car took theirs to him as well as opposed to letting their dealership do it.

When you guys say 'dealer detail, do you mean the clean up they do on all new cars as part of the normal prep? Or is this a separate more involved 'detail service' that can be requested from the dealer before delivery (or any time there after)?

Im talking about when they take the car and fully detail it before you drive it off the lot

So I guess by 'fully detail' you do not mean what most cars get by default as normal new car prep. You mean paying extra for full on professional detail like you would do at a 3rd party detailer.

Please share your dealer Pick Up experience.

I just got an EDD (3/13) so I am interested in everyone's dealer Pick Up experience as it relates to your inspection before/after signing & paying, wash/ no wash, front plate brkt left unmounted as requested, arrived before or after your EDD, etc. If you are willing to share your experience to give the rest of us better info as we go into this process, we may be able to avoid (maybe rare) possible issues. I hope you can go over to a poll I just created and share your experience of things I thought of (put in poll) and anything you have to add in the comments.

Thanks,
