Good Afternoon & Happy New Year to everyone.

I have on order but no VIN as of yet. Ordered end of Sept. 2014.

Originally I was told by the dealer that it would be here in February 2015. Not a big deal because it is miserable winter up here till late March.

I dropped in last week to just say HI and take a look at the one in the showroom.

Got chatting with my salesman and he says he has bad news for me. The Ford Canada rep. was in a week ago and said that my car will not be built anytime soon and might arrive in March or April.

I am a little annoyed at this point and the dealer cannot give me any reasons for this delay.

Can anyone shed some light on why this delay might be so long?

Yes I am in small town Northern Ontario where they do not sell a lot of Mustangs but a sold order is still a sold order. I shouldn't have to wait 6 months or longer to buy this car.

Not planning on going else where to re-order because I got employee pricing and COSTCO member discounts at the time of order.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the time.

Ask @FordServiceCA (Canada) on twitter about it. You need dealer code # and your order code #.

Rachel here is from FordService (USA). She could give you a hand too if you send her a PM.

If you didn't order something really special, waiting time should be not longer than 3 month on a Ford. I waited 4 because I ordered mid August when there was no production running. You could check the Ford inventory if a dealer has already one and would be willing to sell it to you. Some dealers can also transfer a car to each other. That way you can keep the price.

I ordered a rather normal base GT with the performance package.

Trying to get the order info from the dealer right now.

Thank you for your suggestions!

When do you usually get a vin? I ordered an ecoboost premium with pp on November 22 and when I was speaking to the sales person he told me it should take 6-8 weeks. So I called today and he told me that now it's expected to arrive early march, but when I asked if he has a vin he doesn't have. I asked for the dealer code and order number and use wwwqa.cotus.ford.com but it says no matching vehicle. :(:frusty:

Something seems fishy. You should have a VIN at least.

I believe that site is for US only.

I ordered mine on Dec 17, and my dealer told me the same thing. 6-8 weeks. So I'm expecting it arrive sometime in February. I still need to contact them for the VIN, so I'll let you know how that goes.

You can track your order on COTUS only when you have a VIN if you are Canadian

congrats on the orders! sorry to hear you are having a rough order. i can only help with my own experience.

yes, the 6-8 weeks is the typical say, most dealers have no idea what the length of time will be (though is my dealer is watching, they were fairly accurate when i ordered june 3rd for a late november delivery). cotus does work for canadians, but only with the vin look up. the vin will be given about a couple weeks to a month or more before the car will be built. it is only given when the order has been pulled from ford, and the vehicle will be getting arranged to be built. i think mine was given a month or two before the car was built. it stayed in 'ordering processing (first stage)' for a bit.

as the other poster mentioned, with the order # and dealer code, you can contact fordservice and see for the vin. i found this better than asking the dealer.

i ordered a 2014 v6 last year august and was told the normal 6-8 weeks, turned out the be about 13. so with this still being fairly new, some time may still be needed to get your new vehicle. hope this helps, reach out to fordservice to try and get some info. good luck!

Hey guys just an update! Work has been hectic, couldn't post earlier. Been working overtime lately, but I finally got a VIN. The salesman called Wednesday Jan. 21 to update me about my VIN. So I went to COTUS and track it. I got this...

TADA!

So here is the breakdown
Ordered at the delaership at Nov. 22
Ford Received the order on Dec. 05
Received VIN Jan. 21
it took 11 days (excluding sunday) for ford to receive the order?

Now what build week would I be in?

I was told by my dealer that all January allocations (i.e.: cars that got VINS) are set to be manufactured in February and will begin to roll in first week of March. Depending on where you are in the list, could be early March, could be late March. I got my order number/vin the first week of January (Order placed Nov 18th or so). I 'should' be in the first week of February for production... hopefully first week of March for delivery.

The salesperson said I should expect the car to arrive early march. That's all he said.

That's more or less what I was told as well. I placed my order on Dec 17th, expecting it early March.
