Coil Covers

Why do we refer to ‘Coil Covers’ on our cars when they don’t cover what I think of as coil? What’s the difference with a Rocker Cover or Valve Cover?

they cover the coil packs for the plugs but on older cars were called rocker covers or valve covers all basically the same thing
