I'm in the exact same boat. Haven't tried my PP rims/tires yet car is still in storage. The base GT setup feels less sporty than my dads Fusion sport. It's way too soft.
I want the best street setup possible. Willing to spend a little more. I love stiff rides with the least amount of body roll.

I'm hopeful that the "squishy" I feel in the ride is mostly the tires, and I'm going to wait until I get everything out of hibernation before I make any other changes. BUT... I ended up grabbing the OEM k brace from the PP setup for the oil filter access. I figure $35 for some chassis stiffening is probably not the worst money I've thrown at the car and since its OEM the risk of worsening the ride is minimal.

Can't wait for this snow to melt!

A lot of the squishy is the suspension, TBH. The upper K-brace and strut tower brace do make a big difference in making the car responsive, though. Definitely a must-do! I didn't really feel the lower one as much. A difference, sure, but not as big.
