Carfax reports?

Does anyone here have access to carfax reports? I'm looking at a used car and I'd like to check it out.

Pay the 30 dollars and run the vin if it’s a private seller. If it’s a dealer you can usually get them to run one for you

If it’s private contact the seller. They may already have one for prospective buyers to see.

Also go to any dealer and have them print an Oasis report, this will show any dealer repairs etc, u still need the Carfax report

It's a private sale and the seller doesn't have it. It's a cheap beater, so he's not interested in buying the carfax (and neither am I )

do not trust a carfax report. I bought my car to find out the ford and the dealer changed out the engine at 3600 miles and it had a clean carfax only thing on it was a oil change at 3000 miles

Like many things that are controlled by humans. It’s not perfect but usually it is your best option/ worth the money.

For the future make sure the dealer runs an Oasis report for you. That would have caught the engine change. I also think something as major as an engine change should have been disclosed.
