Ok, I have been researching my future audio build for way too many hours and wanted to ask you guys what you think of this setup. I'm trying to keep the price down as much as possible without sacrificing too much in the name of sound. I am thinking about making the decision to bypass the center channel and rear speakers. What do you think? I think it should be ok since I'll be tuning it all with a DSP. I wanted to do a JBL MS8 but they don't make those anymore and the minidsp seemed the best way to go under $300. Also let me know if you think I should choose a different set of components.

Here is the build list:

Polk MM 6501 6.5" Component Speakers
Tang Band WS-881SJ 3" Drivers
Foam baffles used for both sets of speakers
Sound deadening material for the doors
Modeling clay and plexiglass to help seal the doors
MDF speaker rings for spacers
PPI P900.5 5 channel amp
minidsp 6x8 Digital Sound Processor
UMIK mic

Once I have my car and I do the build, I'll make sure to get plenty of pictures as well as a lessons learned write up to help you guys out in the future.

Looks good to me! I think we both did similar research and came to similar conclusions. I'm going to forego the center and rear speakers and tune with a C-DSP. I went back and forth on components for days. Between Hertz, and Focal, and then even contemplating building my own with Daytons and SEAS. In the end I kept seeing people talk about these Precision Power p65c3 3 way components, and for the price I just had to give it a shot. That said, I used some Polk components two cars ago and I was not disappointed.

I've heard good things about the PPI amps, in fact I grabbed a p900.4 for the tweeters and mids, and I'll re-purpose a 4 channel mb quart bridged for the drivers.

I'm going to begin my install tomorrow, first thing is to measure the existing system with the UMIK and REW, I have a feeling I'm going to laugh or cry, not sure which yet. All I know is the shaker pro is the worst system I've ever heard and I cannot wait to get it upgraded.

The shaker from what I have heard is absolutely horrible. I don't know why some people are trying to buy shaker parts in the aftermarket.... Let me know how your system turns out.

I'm kind of rethinking the tang band speakers as the 8ohm impedance and the fact that they work best in a very small enclosure vs the large volume of a door. Damn... Back to research.

yes youll need to trim the midrange hole to get those daytons to fit. Maybe worth going neo midranges to avoid cutting, but I never really looked at them
