I flipped the support brace over and it supports the intercooler fine.
I had to drill a hole on the charge side silicone hose for the CAT. Mounted with Seal-all (thin goop) rated at 7200 psi.
Thanks for the info! Did you happen to take pics of the support brace mounting and the CAT mounting?

Just noticed how bad my spelling is...i cant grammer today..... Anyway looks sweet man try and get some logs to shut people up. A 25k car isnt that expensive, hell an sti is still on the low end of peformance cars pricing. If you can afford the car and the consequences of modding it then by all means GET SOME!!!

It's "grammar" lol.

I've used eBay inter coolers in the past before with success, however I wouldn't recommend them on a BT build.

I did something similar using cxracing parts. Total cost was in the $500 range for core, charge pipes, bov, and some fab work. I'm happy with the results, been running it for around 5-6 months already.

I'm in Houston too!

I'm sorry for not taking more pics while everything was apart but here is the support brace to give you an idea.

As you can see it is flipped, but supports it perfectly. You will only be able to use one bolt on each side versus two.

The top support I made by just jb welding two pieces of aluminum. In the future I will just drill two holes in the front crash support like the Full Race. I just wanted to make sure it worked first. This intercooler is not going anywhere. And its not touching the radiator either.

You will have to use a little jack to properly position that intercooler. But it is a glove fit. I did not have to jack the car up to do anything. For the CAT, You should make a hole in the aluminum coupler joiner or buy one that already has a hole like those at autozone meant for maf sensors. I just drilled a hole in the silicone hose with an xacto knife and plugged that hole with the CAT and Seal-All. This stuff only takes 6 hours to cure and its resistant to anything. Black RTV would be good too but it takes 24 hours to cure. This is all just temporary and I will clean up everything after I get some more logs on the new tune. At that point, I will take more pics. People will flame, but I think I did a good job on getting an intercooler and grill for under $200 total.

What part of Houston?! I'm on the edge of Galleria between Westheimer and Voss. Your setup is even more outside the box than mine! Look at that intercooler peeking out of the grill! That is sick man!

I'm actually in Tomball area, right off of 249 near spring cypress. This set up was all my friends design, so thanks go to him! He had one as well but totaled his EBM........and got a different car now :( this requires a bit more fab work. Charge pipes had to be measured and cut, then welded up. Also he made a map sensor flange that was welded on to the side of the core where the hole was drilled for the sensor. Fitment is great too. Just need to get around to powder coating the charge pipes eventually

You can use any intercooler you want. I just used one that required little modification to fit. On blind faith of course. But I walk by faith lol because my earthly eyes are legally blind.;)

If you want to keep your grill shutters, you might want to look at intercoolers for the 335i

Well he gave me a new tune when I submitted my logs. Much more smooth and linear than my first tune. But OMG is that fricken transmission violent in drive mode! I'm getting so much rubber on auto shifts, it feels like the car is leaping forward between shifts. Torrie gave me a custom log file that I will use to log the new tune. All in all I think I'm satisfied for now. Downpipe and meth at max. Butt dyno says heatsoak is gone on a 84F day in Houston with 90+% humidity.
