Get some rain x.
Glass is not supposed to bead unless treated. Just like paint but most new cars have some kind of wax/polish done at the factory.
Glass doesnt bead like a treated surface but it will repel water when perfectly clean.

Use a clay bar, if done right, it will not even threaten a scratch. Your glass is much more resistant than your paint job and we use clay on the paint. Make sure to use some lube like a soap solution.

This should help a lot. Then apply rain x that will super clean it. Next time it rains watch the water run upwards. You can also go straight to rain x but you will see how dirty your rag gets as you apply it.

Any time i used a wax or polish it was not as good and the wiper smeared it (no matter how lite of an application) and it built up on the blades.

The british product you have seems to possibly be a polish to get out scratches, but not 100% sure.
