Just saw this thread as well.
Started my bourbon/whisky/whiskey journey about 8 years ago when I was in my forties.
Dad was an alcoholic so I tended to stay away from anything more than casual social drinking.
Happy to say I can keep from going down that road.
That being said, wife and I have done the bourbon trail while staying in Louisville...strongly recommend. Lots of fun.
We spent 10 days in Scotland last year and have now been educated in the Peaty vs non peaty versions as we always hated 'Scotch'....but learned they do have non peaty versions that are delicious (anything from the Speyside area).
As to bourbon we have had so many over the years. Her go to is anything wheated. I tend to gravitate to more corn and rye types.
