This must be my lucky day! I adjusted the trunk latch on mine, and found that the deck lid panel not only doesn't hit the bumper any more, the trunk also closes easier and the panel alignment is even better than before. Now I just have to buff the scratches out of the bumper. They hadn't gotten really bad yet so all-in-all, I got really lucky.

Even more than the contact, the thing that disappointed me was how rough the bottom edge of that deck lid panel is. The finish there sucks bad. The problem is fixed now, but I still have a notion to try to smooth that edge out.

Probably worth taking a dremel to it with a buffing tool to try and smooth it down. Must admit i've checked mine after seeing this thread & clearance between the bottom of the decklid & bumper is about 3mm, its also smooth.

Hmm whilst washing mine today i've noticed i have a couple of inches of rubbing marks now, i can only assume when they've put the rear bumper back on (alignment is better than from factory) its now sightly higher and the decklid rubs when closing!
I have a new decklid on order so i might just be careful closing the boot until that arrives and move the latch up slightly at the same time.

It might have been like that before the respray and you just never had time to notice. I'd aim to get the latch adjusted ASAP and in the meantime use a MF cloth or soft rubber mat or anything to prevent further damage. Hopefully your damage will buff out. You don't want yet another bumper painting saga! You've handed the batton over to me now!!!

Until I get chance to adjust, I'm trying not to use my boot as much as possible (using back seats!) and driving around with an inch of rubber mat dangling out the boot, to try and save the decklid. As someone pointed out, the decklid will be getting an equal pounding.

Are there bump stops on the trunk lid that can be adjusted, or is it just the catch?

There are bump stops, but won't make any difference. The boot needs to come down enough to catch the latch. Just so happens this is a couple of mm lower than the bumper! Looks like its the catch that needs raising.
