Biggest size tires on stock PP Wheels?

I think I saw a thread where someone presented a basic rule of thumb of no less than 10mm per side overhang, and no more than 20mm per side overhang.

A 9" wheel is 228.6mm so if you sue the rule of thumb you could use tires that are anywhere from 20 - 40mm wider than that or 248.6 - to 268.6mm.

A 9.5" wheel is 241.3mm so if you sue the rule of thumb you could use tires that are anywhere from 20 - 40mm wider than that or 261.3 - to 281.3mm.

Again this is a rule of thumb, I'm sure you could go bigger....

This is the more correct answer. And the only way to know for sure is to look up the info on the tire manufacturers web site. Don't stray from their suggestions unless you like to throw money and performance away.

Michelin's site says their Pilot Super Sport tires are good to go up to 275/40ZR19 on 9.0 wheels and up to 285/40ZR19 on 9.5 wheels.
