Topic was performance for price, not largest gain - so superchargers are out. CAI on this model isn't much of a performance boost - Ford did fairly well on the stock setup.

(1) Best performance (summer or racing) tires you can afford.
(2) Lighter wheels with weight distribution towards the center of the wheel.
(3) Cat back exhaust with larger than OEM pipes and replaces the suitcase with X/H pipes (take out the cats if you aren't worried about staying street legal).
(4) Tune to get the most out of the exhaust replacement.
(5) Lighter driveshaft.
(6) Lighter battery (utilize only for tracking/drag strip).
(7) Lighter brake rotors (utilize only for tracking/drag strip).

Best value will be $0.00 mods. Aim for weight reduction. Rip out the entire interior except the controls and driver's seat. Rip out all sound deadening. Remove all external body panels. Remove the air conditioner. Remove all window glass.

These guys managed to turn a 16.3 second car into a 14.3 second car with a 1,088 pound weight reduction using nothing but a sawzall:

You'll get tons of compliments on your sweet minimalist design car!

hmmm upon looking over the Cobb tuning for the ecoboost, I find their numbers to be quite impressive. I think the ecoboost with the tune put down roughly 380 ft-lbs on the dyno. This is making the decision to go for the Gt slightly more difficult.:headbonk:

I haven't seen any turbos specifically for the S550 as the roush supercharger seems to be taking the headlines.
Will the mechanicals and engine be able to handle such an upgrade? Surely the transmission would need to be beefed up for the all the extra power. *for both supercharger and turbo

Also what would a turbo cost?
Hellion has a twin turbo setup for these cars, just waiting on finalized numbers and availability.

In the end its really about what you think is important. More subjective to think what mod "I" think is the best value.

380 at, what, 3000rpm? Then it dies all the way to redline. Would much rather the meaty tq curve of the V8. Not to mention the extra 100hp. I'm sure a turbo swap would make all the difference in the world, but then so would going FI on the GT...

purpose

I don't think we have asked what his plans for the car are. Is it going to be a stop light to stop light racer. A 1/4 mile grudge racer, an occasional road course car or is he looking for a daily driver that has enough power to have some fun and not be embarrassed by other street cars.
Best value performance is a pretty broad question, I think we should narrow down what the intended purpose for the mods are going to be.

Hi Mike
I was really just looking for general information on what people think would add some decent power for not much money (no more than 3.5k).

To be specific the car would be used as a daily driver and very occasional auto cross. More focused on taking road trips for some sporty mountain driving.

... and put it all back when you have to have your car's emissions checked in 4 years.
Not true. He lives in Florida. There is no emissions testing there. And last I remembered no vehicle inspection. Alot states don't have emissions testing I know I've never had to deal with one. Amd some have no inspection whatsoever

Good point.

I couldn't copy and paste it here for some reason but the dyno graph can be found if you
-click on the ecoboost engine section of the forum
-click on the first post titled "my review of the cobb accessport"(something like that)
-scroll down a little and there it is!

Might want to focus more on sticking to the ground, then. Both types of driving you enjoy are more suspension/tire focused than power. At which point maybe an ecoboost with a tune is the better decision and you can dump the money saved into wheels, tires, and coilovers.

The ecoboost:

My Coyote:

Notice how flat the tq curve is. Linear power all the way to redline.
