Read all other threads with Battery in the subject but didn't find answers (actually gave me more questions LoL).

My original battery died after the car wasn't driven for several week. It wouldn't even begin to take a charge and the dealer gave me replacement. Fast forward a year plus and I didn't drive it gain for a few weeks and it was completely dead. So I took it out and recharged it and it seemed okay.

Then a month later I got in after parked for maybe a week and it showed a warning and would almost turn over but wouldn't start. I have a Lithium jump starter, so started it that way and took it for a 2 hour highway drive to recharge. What seemed weird to me was that the voltage guage read low 13s for the first hour before eventually getting to 14. I would have figured the alternator would have been working harder when the battery was at its lowest charge.

A week or so later after sitting for just a few days it showed a warning but started okay. So I'm guessing the battery is shot or the car isn't charging it right. I'm leaning toward the battery because it didn't become discharged while the car was used regularly but when left parked a long time. Plus the similarity to the first battery failure.

Anything I can do myself to confirm its the battery?

And if it's okay/advisable to switch to an AGM type? Some thread had one post saying the car's smart charging wouldn't like AGM without some forescan change to whatever module controls that. I probably wouldn't even be thinking about it except when I removed the battery to charge it, the liquid was down a little so I added some distilled. Disclosure: since I didn't know how to properly measure the depth, I can't rule out putting a little too much water. So I like the idea of a true no maintenance battery.

FWIW I do have a dashcam for a few years and until now have left it turned on all the time. It is set to turn itself off if voltage drops to 12, so it might speed discharge until 12 volts but have no effect after that. Plus, it is "watching" for motion and feeling for an impact but those aren't happening in a dark closed garage confirmed by viewing recordings that just show one of us occasionally getting something from the garage.

Also, if you think it might just be that the battery never got recharged enough driving should I disconnect the battery and charge it in the car? If there is any chance it might explode or spray acid don't want to take a risk. This is the charger I have: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0797KK3N2/

Which AGM battery were you looking at? I was thinking of going that route if we decide to keep the Mustang for awhile longer. I am not having issues and since disconnecting the battery monitor on the negative cable my voltage stays at 13.7 or better and the car runs smother at idle.

Maybe I should have shopped that first. I was only thinking they existed because someone mentioned they were thinking of getting one. I can't find a single one. Closest is a group 47 the manufacture claims will fit at a cost of $321. Need to edit my original post. LoL
