So, I would be lieing if I said I didn't want the beautiful nav screen. The base unit is ugly in my opinion. Unfortunately, I do not really want leather seats in my car, and to pay $4000 more just to have the OPTION of buying nav just is not realistic use of my money. My question I am hoping someone can answer is do you think this base unit will be easily swapped out for an aftermarket unit? Some cars the radio unit is like a part of the whole center console and is a little more complicated than just popping out a unit and replacing it with another. Anyone see it in person to have a guess? Better yet, could you just put the stock nav in to replace the base? (cars like the 370z if you dont order factory nav you cant just easily order it later).

Just trying to do a little planning, maybe its too early for these questions, thanks to anyone that can maybe shine some light on this though.

*Edit* Pic added I grabbed off google, can't quite tell if this is going to come out or not to make for easy swap.

I'm pretty sure you can't easily swap that for a standard unit... That doesn't look anything like either 1 or 2 din size (more like 3, but a bit oddly shaped)

I'd guess you'll need a new aftermarket centre console piece and a lot of work to put it in...

All my guesses though :)

Personally I think it looks swappable, you will however need to be patient for aftermarket companies like Scoche to come up with an adapter frame and wire harness.

Won't be that long, maybe already at SEMA. If you want to be absolutely sure just wait with buying the car until a proven solution is available.

I'm actually in the same boat as you. I hate leather, don't particularly care for the turned aluminum dash and the rest of the premium option set doesn't make a lot of sense to me either since most of it is fiddly things except for climate control and drive modes. Those alone are not worth 4K.

Didn't they say we'd only get the premiums over here in Europe though?

Yeah I think so. Was more talking hypothetically if I were to get an import.
