Cool man, enjoy your 0.1 seconds faster advantage over a 1/4 mile.

100% of the time in the race between a base and a tech/track pack it will come down to the driver. (Plus the car weight)

Like I said more bang for the bucks plus extra car length off the line.:first:

Like I said, driver skill level is going to be much more prevalent than less than a 100lbs weight advantage... You'll see no difference unless you use same driver. Even then its maybe a 0.1 at the end of a 1/4, if that.

If his wife was giving him grief over a GT350, as he has said many times in his posts. I can't believe that he would put himself in a spot to encounter the "reign of terror" that would be had from his wife by purchasing a $450K GT.
hey dont shoot the messenger.

My wife said " go buy a gt350 is that's what you really want".

So I did.

Then she said, "go buy your stupid AMG G63 before you change your mind and come home with something stupid like a porsche or a maclaren."

She knows me all too well. :)

She and I discussed a GT for about 20 mins, then the realization hit that I'd have to sell all of my cars, and maybe our beach house for it to happen.

I decided a $500K daily driver with no trunk space was not worth it ( it would have taken us down to a GT and Her car).

Plus my big dumb dog wouldnt have fit in it. :-)

Or it might be 3/10 at the end of a 1/4. Any day of the week I would take the lighter car over the heavier car in a drag race.

Well the R is almost 100 lbs lighter, with Cup 2 tires that have a full 1" of extra rubber contacting the road on every corner, and Carbon wheels that are a lot lighter, and testers managed 0.3 seconds faster than the Track pack... With the same tires, you are talking 0.1 seconds if you are lucky.

You are literally talking about a 1/38 advantage in weight. lol

Except the Track Packs, Tech Packs, "R" had the huge $10K to $30K ADMIN. which the base GT350 never had. Also the Base was lighter & faster in a straight line.
GT350s in Canada are selling for under MSRP except the R. I never heard of an ADM that high for a non-R.

Yeah you guys in the US had a hard time with ADM's even on the non-R's. My local dealership sold all 15 2016's for MSRP.

Our R situation in Canada here was the exact opposite, with only ~71 or so coming to Canada, the ADM's were crazy.. with some being sold for 180K+ in Montreal.. :eyebulge: Literally more than double the MSRP haha

I feel very fortunate to have been hooked up with a deal for "only" 5K over sticker.

A year ago I could have ordered a 2016 GT350 for 3k under MSRP at Erinwood Ford. I am sorry you didn't shop around.

Says the guy who doesn't own a GT350... Lots of people called around and went all over the US to find a good deal. People who managed to get MSRP were very fortunate. I call absolute BULLSHIT on getting one for 3K UNDER MSRP a year ago, basically when 2016's were first shipping...

Hey man, you leave our Canadian Rupee alone!!! :D

You definitely did well considering you got your 350 in the early days.

The price difference between US and Canada for Ford is ridiculous though. GT350 started at 49K in the US, 67K in Canada... huge difference. 63K for an R, 83K for an R here.

In contrast, the new ZL1, 63K in the US... 69K in Canada LOL its a steal here in comparison

You keep harping on the straight line stuff like it's supposed to be the only thing that matters.

I wouldn't use a GT350 in any flavor for drag racing. (edit: it's the wrong tool for that job)

So what if I don't own a GT350? I wanted a competition orange GT350 with the track package and no other options. None were left within a 2000 kilometer radius of me.

Dealers in Toronto were selling them for under MSRP. There are 2017s being discounted 4k off currently. The GT350 is not hot in Canada when there are so many on the lot, rotting. I know of a Ruby Red GT350R that has been sitting on the lot for at least 3 months now.
