Are there apps for 2015 sync?

I have the 2015 premium with nav. Last night I updated it to the newest version. During the process I noticed there was a spot to install apps. What kind of apps can I load with this version of sync? Any general tips or tricks? Is paying Ford the only way to update the maps?

If it's the same as the 2018 you just install the apps on your phone. Then they randomly work sometimes.

Lately, I've just been using android auto. The maps that came on my 2018 were outdated on delivery.
