i was just wondering if anyone is using McIntosh speakers or amps in their S550?

I was curious after seeing the Ford GT comes with that equipment.

I sold Mcintosh home audio equipment for many years back in the 70's. Didn't even know they made car audio. Unfortunately they do not anymore. This is from Wilkipedia;
While car audio is no longer included in their current catalog, models once available include a CD changer, CD changer/AM/FM controller, and an external DAC.

Unique features such as the Fast Responding Wattmeter and the patented Power Guard circuitry set their amplifiers apart from others' products; various models were available offering from 75 to 2,000 watts, divided amongst one to six channels. High quality power supplies, powerful circuit topologies, and balanced inputs completed each amplifier.

At the end of the chain used to lie their hand-built drivers, which came in standard 5 1⁄4-inch and 6 1⁄2-inch nominal sizes. All applicable car products were finished with McIntosh's signature glass plate displays.

A few vehicles were available from the factory with McIntosh sound systems, including Subaru Legacy and Outback models (starting from the BH & BE Legacy chassis) and the 2005–2006 Ford GT.

Wouldn’t that cost about half of the Mustang’s original purchase price to outfit gear like that?

I had to revisit this. Do you have interest in products that are comparable? There are some serious high end companies that make top notch gear for the mobile environment. Brax, Sinfoni, Mosconi, etc.

I wish they made modern audio for cars, as I too have McIntosh at home. MC2301 300 watt tube amps.

On that note...went with all C7 series from JLAudio and their new DSP 7 channel amp. Sounds awesome and makes music listening more pleasurable when not listening to the sounds of the FPC.

I’d bet it sounds incredible especially when in direct comparison to what you replaced.
