Hey folks,

I'm contemplating painting all of the stock matte black parts to gloss black. Has anyone done it? There is front chin, fog light housings, front grills, side skirts and rear valance insert. Just wanted to see how it would look and also wanted to get an idea on how difficult it would be to remove those parts. :)

There would need to be quite a lot of prep work since those parts have texture to them. Getting a nice smooth finish before paint would be a lot of prep work.

I think a downside would be that those parts usually take a lot of beating and that's part of where the texture is nice because it doesn't chip like paint. It doesn't look bad though.

Looks really nice !!I'm having all my black plastic parts hydro dipped black carbon fiber and they come out extra shiny.

stevec looks great!!

Is it possible to wrap those parts in gloss black or is painting them the only option here?

I honestly dont know. I would imagine you would have to do much of the prep required for painting even if you wrap them. I just wanted to go the paint route soI never looked in to wrapping.

Apparently you can't wrap untreated plastic. I think it might be because the wrap doesn't stick?

For those that have painted, did you use normal paint or is there a 'special' (more durable) type that's better to use? The gloss trim on factory painted cars (e.g. Fusion/Mondeo) appears slightly different to regular gloss black paint?
