Last time on track, would loose power steering. Happened twice on track. Checked all connections and re terminated all. Still doing it. Seemed to get a little better once I jacked up frontend and cycled steering with no load. But not completely back 100%. 2015 GT running FRPP Track Pack, 18x10's wrapped w/275/40/18 Toyo RR and FRPP 5.0 harness.TIA

Me too....it's really weird....did it mostly on right hand turns but did happen on lefts also....would be fine and then just tighten up or go into manual mode, then come back sometimes within a second or two, sometimes almost 20 secs....

rats chewing on wires? thats the first thing that popped into my head because i just caught one that was chilling in my bay for a couple of weeks. there was a second one that got away from the glue trap but while pulling itself free it started biting everything and managed to chew up some wires by the fuse box.

Guess that's a possibility....dastardly little varmints! (Wasn't something like that said in an old cartoon???) Hadn't seen any signs of pests and the majority of the wiring is in convoluted tubing (not that they couldn't go through that as well)...

I have not. Did a search on 'power steering', 'steering', and 'steering loss of power'...and found nothing. Will try again. If you get a chance can you link me to it? TIA

I couldn't find it either but I think it was not more than two weeks ago. Something about a bunch of codes or lights including epas failure unless I'm mixing it up with your post.

Is this the one? https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/tools-for-flashing-strategies-calibrations-vbf.112549/
If it is that's pretty darn scary! I'm not opening up the rack....hmmm, but I got this buddy.....
OK. I found the post . . . in another car forum I'm not allowed to link to. The issue was in a 2013 F150 which had Advance Trac warnings. Codes appeared to indicate steering position sensor issues and the guy's research indicated a new nominal $1200 EPAS rack might be the solution. He decided to take it to a dealer because his online research indicated potential loss of power steering in a truck his wife drives and hasn't posted the results.

The Mustang6G post I was thinking of was actually a battery failure which caused a lot of codes including maybe a steering code.

Sorry for the wild goose chase.

What mods do you have?
I recall Vorslag had issues with their s197 after changing the control arms. Eventually switched to a Ford Racing Motorsport (?) rack to fix it.

only mods are frpp track pack and 18x10 apex rims all the way round. rest is all safety eqpt. well g-loc pads but that not going to make a difference relative to the epas

Happened to me a couple times, but was coupled with "advanctrac" and "ABS" warning lights. Eventually chased it back to a drivers rear hub ring issue. There is a little metal "ring" on the inside of the hub and mine got bent/crushed out of place and would play havoc with the wheel speed sensor.

I'd check that first! Good luck
