So I’m looking to buy and flip a 1990 Nissan 300zx. Apparently after checking out the car and doing some research it’s 1 of 117 made from 90/91 in yellow pearl color. Actually, it’s # 7, as it comes with a special certificate and book from Nissan stating this. Says only the 1st 10 buyers received this special book.

Car has 10k and change miles. Starts up but sounds a little rough. Everything is original on car. From the tires to the paper floor mats from dealer. All paperwork is there. Vin matches all plates and firewall. Comes with everything it came with when purchased new in 1990.

Wondering what the market is like for these. I checked BAT and other car sale sites but haven’t found any 1990’s in yellow pearl with miles this low.

I understand that I need to dump some money into it to get it back to showroom condition but not sure if that’s the right thing to do. Some might want original paint and an untouched car and others might want showroom shine.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First of all don't redo anything.
I would have it deep cleaned.
Lubricate all hinges latches, seat rollers etc.
I would put on Ebay a couple of times with high reserve to gauge interest.
No rush to sell, price will only go up.

If the car is what you say it is then the person interested in this car will want to meticulously have car preserved and renovated at the same time.
Take it to a few larger car shows, the market will evidently find you.
Your buyer is going to be a collector, not a local.

Yeah..,that’s kinda what figured.

I have had one place that sells this kind of car mention a few other things upon sending them more detailed pics. They said this is an ultra rare car but only valuable to the right guy. They said don’t take a penny less then $14k. I think I’m going to put it on consignment with them.

Considering I only paid $1k...I think I’ll make out in the long run.

Wait, $1k?!
I was taking a pic of this guys yard because he was claiming my company had damaged the curb out front of his house. When I sent the pics in...a young offiice intern asked me what the car was..???!!....what???? what car dumbass..????....oh...that one !!!!!

Technically it was $1k plus a bag of quikset to patch a small piece of curb lol!!!!!

I would put it in the exact condition one would expect a 10k mile car to be in.
You're right, it's rarity is relatively meaningless to non-300ZX enthusiasts. So you may get the right buyer one day but it could take a while. However, if you clean it up and make it look and run like a low mileage car should, I think you could get upwards of $20k, if not more. Like-new low mileage cars can go high.

Closest car I found (yellow pearl) ... was a 91 with 18k miles and that sold for $45k. Of course it was showroom condition and I believe 3 or 4 years ago.

I’m trying so hard to not start another project....my wife is gonna kill me...
