I think that's just from the passenger airbag hitting the windshield.

That's correct the airbag usually always cracks the windshield when it deploys. Sometimes it is even the plastic cover over the air bag that flies and hits windshield.

General rule of thumb when it comes to insurance companies..

that is way outdated info, it's all about cost to repair vs salvage. granted this car has 7k in interior damage from air bags.

I think insurance companies already have enough data on Mustangs to make a decision on rates

But it's always a shame to see a car destroyed within the first year of it being on the road.

True but this doesn't help any. :( Hopefully the occupants are fine and its nice to know that these airbags actually deploy when needed and do their job.
