I'm looking at the Anderson Heat Extractor hood. It has large vents and I'm wondering if water intrusion is a concern. I don't drive my car in the rain (generally speaking), but still want to know if it's an issue or if it can be minimized somehow. I was thinking that there may be a way of providing some sort of fabricated diversion type tray or mod? Also, I see some of these aftermarket hoods say "hood pins recommended". I see this on hoods that also say "uses OEM latches, brackets". Is this hood pin recommendation for race applications where high prolonged speeds are anticipated? Thanks!!

I just installed the double sided heat extractor hood from @Andersoncomposites.

Great product. I've washed my car and no issues. Just don't spray water directly into the vents. Everything in your engine is covered. Unless you have a open aftermarket intake, you will have zero issues.

I drove it in the rain today on a 1 hour drive. It was light rain but no issues.

Regarding hood latches, your stock hood latch does attach to the hood. However, with any CF piece, hood pins are recommended as added security. I don't know exact weight but just from holding the two hoods, the double sided CF hood is about 1/2 the weight of the stock hood. That's from holding up the hood attached to the hinge.

The hood does not flex at all even at 120+ mph on freeway. But with all CF products, it's recommended you get hood pins. I used Aero Catch hood pins. It is a latch that is flush with your hood and has a pin underneath the latch.

I would not recommend the hood pins that are just cotter pins. Aero Catch latches are much safer.

The fitment of the hood is also amazing. It actually fit better than my OEM hood which was really annoying to find out. Way to go Ford.
