I have the exact opposite opinion. I love the 10 speed in the Mustang. No complaints. I always drive in S+ mode. In the Raptor my A10 didn't feel great. Regular mode was too dull and sport mode was too much. In the Explorer ST, the 10 speed is very much like the Raptor was. It is improved a bit, but still seems to hunt a bit in normal mode.
Do you find the shifting harsh in sport mode? I know it's supposed to have firm shifts in sport and I love the throttle response in sport but my car is just so clunky in sport mode. Some shifts are firm and smooth and others are super firm and clunky - just not consistent at all within the same mode...

I drive the mustang and the ranger in sport. I put 33 inch tires on the truck. And in regular it was sluggish. I enjoy the truck in sport. Makes it drive like a little ricer sports car……that weighs 4600 pounds.

Maybe they improved it in the Mach 1 because my A10 feels pretty great!

Not at all to be perfectly honest. Sometimes they are a bit harsh in Track mode, but I honestly don't use that mode much. The shifts in both the Raptor and ST can be harsh in normal mode, but that's a rare thing. Have you tried resetting the adaptive learning? Supposedly the transmission learns how you drive and adjusts accordingly. Not sure exactly how that works.

Ford, GM/Chevy, and Honda/Acura all have 10 speed transmissions. Has anybody tested them all? I'm just curious how they compare to each other.

Personally, I think an 8 speed is the sweet spot. 10 is a bit too much. But then again... I have never ridden in a Charger or Challenger with the ZF 8 speed.

Had my 18 A10 software updated at the dealership a couple months back. It’s like a different transmission now.
What years are eligible for the updated software or is it just an 2018 only thing?

The update came out in 2018. All subsequent years already have it. But if you are concerned, head over to your dealer and have them check it.

Thank you, no concern. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing out on some TSB or update.
