A/c not working

Not sure if this is a stupid question or not but how do you get air to blow out the main vents... Every time I turn air on it only shoots out the front vents for the windshield. Nothing actually comes out of the vents facing the cabin. Should I take it in to get looked at or hopefully just a button I have to hit?? I'll check the owners manual later today just hoping it's a quick fix

Is there actually a way to change which vents are open/close for your feet etc?
