hello. i'm at 258 miles. it's been dead cold, though today up to 23 deg F. i've done a few hard stops in a row from 50mph with maybe 1/4 mile max driving inbetween, 4-5 in a row and i'm not noticing a good transfer on my front rotors. the back rotors look like they have a nice (although thin) darkened rim around the outer diameter.

so these apparently are pretty high temp orientated pads in the front? maybe i could kick it up to 60 or 70 for the hard stops (about .75g).

thanks,

Some pads don't transfer. They even scrub the layer off exposing shinny metal.
It really depends on pad design.

yeah, ive carbotech xp10 pads and in daily driving they scraped off the street pad material and squealed a ton after about a day of city driving. but hpd braking from 100+ put that darker ring on the rotors.

i did read some saying they were impressed as heck with the brake setup and was able to do full track day on it with no worries (i think just 1 2 day event) . so that makes me think the stock pads are pretty good, but probably not up to some of the other typical high temp pads, as these have to be used in daily driving.

That's what I notice on my RX-8 R3 too. The rotors would turn dark at track day but once you start driving on the street, they turn shiny again.
I notice pads that transfer at lower temperature don't have the bite that pads transfer at higher temperature do.

sure that makes perfect sense, the street type pads aren't as hard maybe as the agressive ones.

speaking bite, so the first time i put the xp10's on my car (xp8's on the rear), i was driving to the autozone with a buddy to pick up something for his car... at about 25mph i forgot there was a stop sign at this 3-way (sign was hidden behind a tree and i don't drive that way often) anyway i hit the brakes and we all flew forward! that's when i knew the difference between a track pad and street pad. then of course later on the track when i did 5 laps with no fade and excellent feel!

I was very impressed with the stock pads/Brembos at HPDE events.

woa, you leaned so much the world tilted! lol. i'll tell you, the '13 non TP really seemed floaty compared to the '16 PP. i really like the suspension on this '16 PP. most of our roads are pretty bumpy around here, some downright awful, but it's still no harsh or jarring. it's a little bouncy - best way i can think to describe it and i think it's because the "smooth" roads we have are in fact lightly bumpy :)
