Being in SCCA you can go +/- 1" in wheel diameter but not width have you considered going to an 18" wheel and running the Rival S?

And, if your dead set on staying with 19's I'd look into running the 285 Bridgestone re71r. They are leaps and bounds faster than the RE-11/RE-11A as well as the RS-3 V2.

An 18" wheel is not an option with the 15.5 front discs, and yes I thought about that initially. I DO want to go as fast as I can, but mostly have some adrenaline laden fun. End of this year the RE-11's are to become available in a 305/30-19, so I can regroup once they are out. Fellow competitors who were running RE-11's or Start Specs etc, all say the Re-71 have loads of grip, near Hoosier levels.

Ahh, forgot about the huge brake rotors. If that's the case, I'd run the 285/35-19 RE-71R.

Even when they come stock with 295/305s?. One of those very tricky compound vs tread width trade offs

There are always going to be trade offs, but in this specific instance where he wants to compete in a class that limits wheel size and tire tread wear to 200, the RE-71R is by far the superior tire. Now for track days or in other instances there might be a better tire.

I run my 2004 Z06 in a class where I can do whatever size wheels/tires I want and through testing found that running a 275/35-18 RE-71R on the front and a 315/30-18 Rival S on rear was faster than any other combination. The bridgestone has a far superior carcass to anything else and grips and responds to wheel inputs close tonthe Hoosier A7, The Rival S puts down power like a Hoosier A7 but can't turn like the RE-71R. Being he can't run 18's the next best thing is RE-71R's all around.

If you want a second opinion, look at the results fromstreet tire classes at last years SCCA Solo Nationals.

I meant to say RE-71's are to become available, sorry.

As much as I hate to run something smaller, this might be something I need to consider? ! ?
