This thread reminds me of the day I discovered what the expression "every cloud has a silver lining" really means. One time I had a fairly expensive pair of sunglasses that were broken when a very attractive young lady sat on them. That was the cloud. The silver lining was that I happened to be wearing them at the time! :)

Thats why my glasses are 15-20 bucks max...I put my money in my wrist watch
:p
Look. That guy has a nice Rolex but check out his cheap ass sunglasses!
Nah man. I'm all about the nice watches, I've got a few, but your eyes are much more important than your wrist. I work outside and I need good glasses. I have prescription Costas and Oakleys. I'm going to get some Maui Jims because they are the best lenses I've come across. They'll match up much better with my Tag than a cheap pair of Walmart specials.

Did the shattered glasses damage the seat?

I've owned several pairs of oakleys, I've tried all the Costa, ray bans, Armani, etc, and nothing comes remotely close to the quality of the lenses in my Maui Jims. The clarity is unbelievable. They weren't cheap (around $350), but my eyes are sensitive to sunlight so I have to wear dark glasses during the day. Cheap glasses give me a headache. I love oakleys as well, but even they can't compare to Maui.

winner winner. I like your style sir.

side note for people that don't get 250$ glasses. my armani reading glasses were about that much, and my prescription ray bans were about 500. Being blind sucks!! I'm only 22

Such a bummer OP! We've all done dumb stuff like that before though. You're in good company here! :D
I always wear cheap sunglasses when mowing the lawn or any activity that could break them. I bought a pair of oakleys about 8 years ago and have yet to break.
I've worn Oakleys since 1990 when I had a pair of the original Razor Blades. I've also had Frogskins, Minutes, Eye Jackets, Straight Jackets and Fives. I swear by those things. Out of the 10+ pairs I've owned over the years, some merely grew old and worn out, but some others met a more adventurous demise.

Back when I was in high school, one pair was stolen off our school bus during a soccer away game in Miami. Another pair was left by me on the back bumper of my truck after mowing the lawn and stayed there til they flew off to parts unknown when I went to work the next morning. Yet another pair (not the ones left on my truck) literally saved my sight when I was weed-eating the yard and had some landscape gravel fly up at my eyes, scratching the lenses beyond use. My wife had a pair that I bought her go flying off her face at the beach a few years ago when she wore them into rough surf and a wave caught her. I looked through sand and waves for at least 20 minutes before she finally called off the search. She was so heartbroken that I ordered her another pair on Amazon as soon as we got back to the hotel room. Needless to say, she's not allowed to wear sunglasses when we go in the water anymore. :)

I own a pair of Maui Jims right now and I honestly can't wait til they get old, destroyed or lost just so I can buy another pair of Oakleys. They're fantastic and I frankly don't know what ever possessed me to temporarily switch.

My Oakley's were $300 and I'm quite careful with them, last pair lasted me for 10 years and I still have them, only retired them as the lenses had become far too scratched up and replacements are no longer made.

I use to be the cheap sunglasses type until I finally pulled the trigger on some polarized Oakley 's. Now just use the inexpensive ones for yard work or situations i feel i might destroy them. If I could just stop leaving my damn oakley's behind at restaurants that would be great. Always end up missing them and purchasing a new pair due to quality difference compared to $10 pair.

I say do both...I only wear Maui Jim sunglasses, and I rotate between my gold and stainless Breitling Evolution, Rolex GMT Master II, and Omega Sea Master.
