I have a set of wheels that I would like to put on my new 2015 Mustang. They are (4) 20x9.5 with 40 offset. I have been all over the net and people put 20x9.5 wheels on the front of their s197 with no problems with offsets ranging from 35 to 45. We know that HRE make their flow form wheels for the s550 in 20x9.5 for the front but they are 35 offset. I want to put my 20x9.5 wheels all around so I can rotate tires and wheels often. Do you think my 20x9.5 with 40 offset will fit on the 2015 (s550) all around? I know we don't know for sure but your educated guesses would be appreciated. Thanks

Chances are they will fit without any issues.

What wheels are they?

Assuming the design of the spokes clears the calipers in the front you won't have any issues with these fitting. You can run 20x10 all around if you wanted.

I found this on another site that should apply to the S550.

Here is a quote from squid on AFM about size and offsets, hope this helps.

"315's up front on a street car is pretty aggressive though.Click the image to open in full size. For a non-race car I would go a little narrower on the front and avoid any rubbing issues.

That said I would go at least 9.5's on the front or even 10's and mount 275's up there. Or 285's if you can find them in the right size.

As far as 20's go one of our cars has 20's. 275's front, 315's rear. Both are 28.62" tall and even though the car is lowered 2+" there are ZERO rubbing issues. The key, like csamsh said is to nail the offsets. Here is a little something I wrote about them and how they work on the S197.

Offsets:

There is a lot of confusion on how wheel offsets work, what wheels will fit, etc. I’m going to skip the tutorial on how wheel offset works and go straight to what offsets work with what width rims. This is not because I don’t think you should understand offset, it’s because I don’t feel like typing all of that. I recommend doing a google search on wheel offset and getting yourself familiar with how it works so you can figure this stuff out in the future.

I would also like to add that I don’t consider wheels/tires that stick out past the fenders or are even with the fenders right…..because they are NOT! Yeah, tires/wheels that are flush mounted with the fenders look cool, but there are WRONG. During semi hard cornering they will rub, period. And if they can rub, they are wrong. There is no excuse to have tires that can contact the fenders. You can run 315’s at all four corners with no rubbing if the wheel is offset correctly. Having 275-295’s that can rub, there is no excuse for.

There are a TON of “Mustang” rims out there that don’t fit! Do not just blindly take a manufacturers/vendors claims at face value. Research the fitment yourself and make sure you are getting rims/tires that fit correctly.

Here are the popular wheel widths and the offset range you want to run them in to fit CORRECTLY. Wheel diameter doesn’t matter:

Front:

There is a little more leeway with the front because the wheel/tire is tipped in at the top (camber) which allows the use of a wider rim w/ less offset than if they were perfectly straight up and down. Push these minimum offset numbers (the smaller of the two) at your own risk. Cars with 2.5deg+ of camber will be a lot more forgiving than cars running the stock 1-1.5deg of camber.

9.0” rim 33-38mm offset
9.5” rim 39-44mm offset
10” rim 44-50mm offset
10.5” rim 50-53mm offset

Rear:

9.0” rim 35-38mm offset
9.5” rim 41-44mm offset
10” rim 48-51mm offset
10.5” rim 55-58mm offset
11” rim 62-63mm offset"

Thanks for the info but from what I've read I'm not sure these offsets are correct for s550. HRE FlowForm wheels seem to be running 20x10 with 35 offset for front and 20x11 with 45 offset for rear. Those stats don't match up with yours...

The HRE FF01 is 20x9.5 +35 and 20x10.5 +45. Aggressive stance.

Their new wheels will be 20x10 & 20x11 (according to the HRE thread here). Offsets yet to be determined.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm going ahead with 20x9.5 all around with +40 offset. I'll put 255/35/20 all around instead of 265 to give me that extra squeeze.

I may do something similar. Probably 20x10 +45 with 275/35R20 Michelin PSS.

255 may look a bit stretched on the 9.5" wheel. Not my style, but some guys go for that.

What offsets are you planning on runnig. I might try 19x10.5 on all 4 corners w/285/40 MPSS. But its a 45mm offset dont want to run spacers in the front though and its only the 4 piston Ecoboost PP brakes

I wouldn't be concerned with clearing the brakes with the EP PP. I would be concerned about inner suspension clearance.

Without having the car and very few pictures showing the clearance it's tough to make that call right now.
