I'm looking to try and purchase a GT premium. The one I want has a $38,000 MSRP. What would be the best purchase price for this?

Also, what kind of ground do I have to negotiate? USAA isn't giving me anything really off, and dealers aren't sending me numbers. I also tried to do Koons when my fiancé bought her Fusion, and they ignored it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I just got one 3 weeks ago out of Salem, OR. I picked it up for 35,400. Had a $38,700 or so MSRP on it.

401a package I think: auto, non Nav system stereo set up (Shaker w/o the sub, the 9 speaker variety.) with the 8 inch screen, premium seats. No spare, locking lugs ruby red. 18 inch wheels, all season tires.

I didn't really negotiate: I simply asked them what their best number was, they came back with this and I was fine with it. They also whacked $500 off the supercharge install cost (They wanted $1500, but I told them $1000 and they bit. As it turns out, they cut $300 off the SC price and $250 from the install charge.)

If they won't give you a good number, or try to screw you on your trade in, walk away and look somewhere else. Don't be afraid to pick up your football and go home.

There are thousands of these things out there, depending on what you're looking for.

This is absolutely true. That's what I plan on leading with (pretty much everything you said). It will really come down to my trade in, which might be detrimental to the overall deal happening.

I was hoping to get a round number or what to expect. Part of me says to go and just get a base GT to save the coin (as well as assume for the negative equity) but I'd have to build a 2017 and that takes away my 0% chance.

Still looking
I always like to check out cars.com for all cars available in the nation. To me thats always a great way to see what some places are selling for, and gives me more confidence expecting a certain kind of deal. I am also not afraid to have one shipped or even fly and drive one back.

Below are some great examples:

GT Premium 401a w/shaker:

Good luck man. I will be in your boat next year, jealous...I want my Mustang now HAHA

I got a GT 400a 6MT with nav for $34.5k, sticker was $38.5k. This was at Kings in Cinci. It looks like there aren't a lot of '16's left at Lebanon or Kings.

Good luck with your search!

I think you grabbed the one that I got!

What rebates did you have off of it? This is a great deal.

I just talked to Kings, and they were't really interested in selling, it felt like.

This is the one I'm wanting...

http://kingsfordinc.com/Cincinnati/For-Sale/New/Ford/Mustang/2016-GT-Premium-Black-Car/47661237/

I went to go look at it, but apparently the manager had 'taken it for the day'.
Dude that's hilarious! I went to look at that same one and the sales manager had also "taken it home for the day"! Even after I told them I was coming down...oh well. Now that I think about it, I'm not sure I'd want that demo car cuz they probably beat it to hell every time they take it home. It also had a "$2500 exhaust" (did they charge themselves $1000 for install??) so the starting price is more than the internet price. The sales guy did say they would cut a better deal since it was a demo car though. It had like 1000 miles on it a couple months ago FYI.

I got mine back in the beginning of June with the $750 off. 0% wasn't an option at the time unfortunately.

Go figure. Sales guy blew my fiancé and I off hard about it. He kept pushing other colors, but i insisted on black. If it has 1000+ miles on it, that is no longer new and I would get as low as possible (that 35k for it as the sales price is a joke) only bad thing is finding a price for a 'new' car that is now 'used'.

That being said, with all my negative equity, might be a good situation. Not really sure.

My sales experience was pretty good other than they didn't have the car I told them I was coming over for. At that time they did have another black GT minus the black out package I went with instead.

Yea the $35k was asking when it was new for sure. Maybe start at a used car price and see how they react? Maybe they bite, maybe not. He did say they would cut a better deal on it since it was a demo.

Definitely measure the rear tire tread depth if you end up looking at it. You could check the track apps to see if it has times stored too. That may give you some indication how it was driven. I know these cars are strong but since it's not "their car" there's no telling how they treat it. I'd look it over with a fine tooth comb like any other used car. It is a used car now for sure.

My Fiancé told me to kick Kings to the side. So we will work with Lebanon. I haven't seen many 16s left. Beau Townsend, up north by Dayton, has a metallic grey 16 with performance pack. They sent me an out the door cost between 34,300 and 34k. That seemed pretty decent.

Oh wow, it wasn't a 2016 but a 2017 that Beau Townsend sent me. 34k OTD for 36.5k MSRP!
